Amazon.co.uk Review
Finally making its Blu-ray bow, The Ultimate Bourne Collection defies the convention for how these things are supposed to work. The theory runs that a trilogy’s best film is the first, and it’s a case of diminishing returns from that point onwards. The Bourne movies? They just keep getting better and better.

Things kick off well with The Bourne Identity, which introduces Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. When we meet him, he’s no idea who he is, but he quickly learns that he’s in possession of some quite extraordinary, and lethal, skills. The film is slap bang on the money for the first two thirds, before a slightly muddled last act. Yet it still gets the franchise off to a good start.

The directorial reigns passed over from Doug Liman (of Swingers and now Mr and Mrs Smith fame) to Paul Greengrass (United 93, Bloody Sunday) for The Bourne Supremacy, and it proved to be a wise choice. Supremacy is a faster, more intense film, that this time sees Jason Bourne framed for murder, and gradually closing in on the secrets of his part. It’s pulsating stuff.

The icing on the proverbial cake though is the superb The Bourne Ultimatum, arguably one of the finest blockbuster movies of the past decade or two. Effectively a two-hour chase movie, it’s a staggering achievement that returning director Greengrass manages to keep the momentum going right the way through. Damon, by this point, utterly owns the role, and it’s a film that demands to be re-watched time and time again.

As you’d hope and expect, high definition is both kind and effective where the Bourne films are concerned, with the fast action looking quite superb in 1080p. Backed up by a vibrant, brilliant surround sound mix, all three of the films benefit from the upgrade, and ultimately leave you salivating for the much-rumoured fourth installment. A terrific trilogy. --Simon Brew

5 out of 5 stars Great Movies at a Great Price   July 30, 2010

Received this in the mail from Amazon and thought it was a great deal! I have never seen the films, but they come highly recommended by friends. I've only watched the first one and it was quite the ride! This set does not include all of the special features, but is great for the price and plays fine on my Canadian PS3!

received everything as promised. The picture and sound quality are excellent. I love the multiple languages option. I counted over 14 languages either spoken or subtitled. Great buy! I would buy other blu rays like this again.

You want special features? I got three discs of special features for you. Of course you get the standard deleted and extended scenes, directors commentaries, and then you get a wide range of shorts covering the fighting, chase scenes, explosions and all the other fun that make the Bourne films unique. One of the most interesting things to me was the look at the life and work of Robert Ludlam, the guy who wrote the books the films are loosely based on. Watching these shorts make me want to track down the books and see what they're like; from what I hear, the books are quite different from the film. The exclusive feature on these Blu-ray editions are character files, location analysis, and more information as you watch the film, as well as the Bourne Orientation, which shows the connections of Jason Bourne's actions in all three films. Between all three movies, you'll have more than enough to keep you watching for a long time.

So is The ultimate Bourne Collection Blu-ray set worth your time and money? Yes, it is. Hollywood doesn't make near as many good action films as they used to, but these are three of the best from recent years, and they'll look great on your HD system. Sure, if you already own them, there might not be a ton of new features to force you to pick them up again, but if you don't own them already, this is the perfect way to see them. Hopefully the next film will find a way to keep the excitement going while finding a new path for the stories to take.

Once again I have purchased these Movies, I first thought the DVD Version was great, but after seeing the same again on Blu-Ray, the difference in quality, not to mention sound is like viewing VHS to DVD.

I can recommend this Collection to anyone, a great viewing experience and can not wait till the next installment is available.

Ordered from the U.S. - my account info worked fine for Amazon UK. No region issues playing discs on my BD player. Great price even with shipping from UK and nice addition to my BD collection.
