Amazon.co.uk Review Zachary Levi was born to play Chuck. A computer nerd who finds himself thrust into the role of a Government secret agent, it's a career-making role in a television show that's got plenty to offer, whether you're along for the action or the comedy. Every episode from Chuck's first season is gathered together in this set, and thus we get to see how a geek effectively became a wannabe-Jack Bauer. It goes without saying that Chuck has a lot of fun with its premise, and it happily asks you to suspend your disbelief as plausibility quickly goes out of the window. But so what? For when the action and comedy are as strong as they are with Chuck, that proves to be no price to pay whatsoever. Mix in the surprisingly high production values and the very witty scripts, and you have a surprise hit of a show that's hard not to warm to. One of the chief reasons for this is Levi in the title role, but Chuck also boasts good supporting turns from the likes of Adam Baldwin and Yvonne Strahovski. It also packs a surprising amount into its 13 episodes, and displays an ambition and verve that serves the show exceedingly well. What's more, it also leaves you positively thirsting for more. Highly recommended. --Jon Foster

This TV series is Awesome August 20, 2010 A. Healer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A spoofish, yet witty show, it brings together cool action packed fight scenes, with laugh out loud humor.
The cast are very good and well chosen for the characters. Especially Zachary Levi who brings out the best in Chuck as a protagonist.
A five star must have DVD collection!
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! July 27, 2010 Charlotte We've already ordered and watched serieis 2 as well and it's torture waiting for series 3 to come out!
This is so so funny and action packed as well, the characters are brilliant!
Great fun to watch with child July 16, 2010 Antonia O'Connell (Ireland) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This TV series was a tremendous hit with my daughter (aged 10), and I and we had reserved time once per week to watch the latest episode. Due to other demands on time, we missed a number of episodes though and this boxed set was the ideal solution for relaxed summer viewing. Lots of action with the'spy' and 'romance' storylines running side by side but with neither becoming too cheesy or predictable. All of the main charactars were original and endearing, while the backgound of menace in international spies, espionage and violence was present but in a vague enough form to make it viewable by a child without scaring them. Couldn't wait for series 2 so ordered both together and the second series which we are about to start promises to be equally entertaining. Highly recommended.
Chuck Season 1 June 6, 2010 D. Mason 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Chuck is perhaps one of the most under rated tv series to come out of america for quite a while. Barely anyone I've met has ever watched it, which borders on criminal. Despite it's short run of thirteen episodes, the first series manages to pack in quite a lot of story.
Five years ago, hapless Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) was betrayed by his college friend Bryce Larkin and unceremoniously kicked out of stanford. Now living with his sister and earning minimum wage at an electronics store, Chucks life is going nowhere. That is until Bryce, who has led a more colourful life working for the CIA, sends him an e-mail containing all of the governments secrets, encrypted into a selection of obscure images that download themselves into Chucks head. As a result Chuck is now a marked man, embroiled into a life of secrets, lies and espionage, and constantly under the joint protection of the beautiful CIA agent Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) and the misanthropic NSA agent John Casey (Adam Baldwin).
An exceptionally bizarre and occasionally touching comedy. The only real complaint to be had about this season is it's sudden unexpected end. The season doesn't have a conventional finale (perhaps as a result of being made during the tv writers strike) but leads instead directly into the second season as if the two were one.
Best spy comedy I've ever seen May 11, 2010 Random Hero 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
There is a reason why this show has become a smash hit, a perfect blend of comedy and drama as a geeky computer technician suddenly becomes the most important intelligence asset in the US. Zachary Levi is perfectly cast as Chuck, and a host of co stars provide this show with sexy, tough and quirky characters that only serve to make this show grounded in reality, and plenty of action lets this show check every entertainment criteria.
If you're looking for something to make you laugh but with a touch of drama and action, you're not going to get much better than this.
